On Friday, February 23, 2007 the Half Moon Bay Police Department notified the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office that they (HMBPD) were conducting an investigation into a subject downloading child pornography onto his computer from the internet. The Sheriff's Office Sex Crimes Unit and the Half Moon Bay Police Department executed a search warrant that obtained the computer in question and identified the suspect as Marvin Jay Winn, age 48, who lives in unincorporated Half Moon Bay.
Further investigation by the Sheriff's Office Sex Crimes Unit uncovered that Winn had allegedly downloaded numerous videos and images onto his computer that depicted minors engaging in sexual acts with adults. On Thursday, March 1st, 2007 Winn was arrested by Sheriff's Office Detectives without incident on Higgins Canyon Road just south of Half Moon Bay. Winn was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on nineteen counts of possessing and/or controlling images that depict minors engaged in sexual conduct and fifty-seven counts of Sexual exploitation of children. (At the time of his booking Winn's bail was set at $570,000.00)
