Environmental Health Organizational Philosophy  Printer Friendly View

Given the high level of professionalism and technical knowledge of the Division's staff, we adopted a team approach to management in 1990. Using this philosophy, the Division's 50 member professional staff organized into geographic and program related teams. Teams are charged with evaluating and proposing improvements to program delivery systems, meeting agreed upon work goals, identifying and resolving problems, responding to public inquiries and complaints and providing coverage of issues as they arise in geographic areas.

This organizational philosophy has proven valuable by:

  • Utilizing the technical knowledge and expertise of staff
  • Decreasing the need for direct supervision and management
  • Increasing communication at all levels of the organization
  • Ownership of ideas and solutions that are experienced based, not theoretical

Division administrative staff (2 managers, 4 accounts receivable, 7 program support) function to support the activities of field staff by responding to feedback and providing resources to maximize organizational efficiencies.
