Program Overview
The Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Program is a state-mandated program that provides health education, grief counseling, and other resources for families and childcare providers after a SIDS death.
Program goals and principles reflect those of the State's SIDS Program:

Help reduce the emotional suffering of SIDS families and caregivers

Improve the knowledge and skills of people who interact with SIDS familes

Increase public awareness and knowledge of SIDS

Promote infant care practices to reduce the risk of SIDS

Collect and monitor data, and encourage medical research into SIDS

Support Services: Bereavement support is provided on a 24-hour basis.

Eligibility and Area Served
Anyone in San Mateo County who may benefit from SIDS bereavement support services and SIDS risk reduction education.
