About HPP Banner

The Internship Program is designed to provide work opportunities and practical learning experience for students in order to enhance their academic preparation and expose them to public service at the County level. Click here to download informational flyer [PDF]

Eligibility
To be eligible for an internship, the student must be enrolled in an accredited college or university. We welcome applications from undergraduate college students, recent graduates (up to one year after their graduation date), and currently enrolled graduate students (MPH, MPP, MPA, MSW, etc.) who are interested in learning more about public health. Internships may be either part-time or full-time based on the requirements of the project and the student's availability. A minimum of 12 hours per week is required for the Fall/Spring internship and a minimum of 30 hours per week is required for the summer internship. Summer internships are generally from June to August and Fall/Spring internships are from November to April.

Stipends
Depending on the project some internships may be paid or unpaid. If paid, the stipend for undergraduates is set at $12 an hour. The stipend rate for graduate students will be negotiated individually. Some universities have work-study or similar programs that could cover a portion of your internship, so check with your career center office on campus.

Types of Internships
Projects may consist of work in one or more of the following areas:
Prevention of Childhood Obesity (PCO), Linguistic Access to Healthcare Services, Social Marketing, Role of Faith-based Organizations in Healthcare, Community Engagement and Capacity Building, Access to Healthcare, Systems Improvement, and Youth Development.
