The Healthy Communities San Mateo County Prevention of Childhood Obesity Taskforce consists of over 250 stakeholders and began meeting in April of 2005 to participate in a large-scale strategic planning process. Partners include representatives from the healthcare sector, schools, preschools, childcare, after school programs, community-based organizations, parent organizations, policy makers, and more.
The Blueprint for Prevention of Childhood Obesity: A Call to Action, created by the Taskforce, was released on April 4, 2006. The report consists of quantitative and qualitative data, a description of the Taskforce process, and an action plan.
SPEAKERS BUREAU
The San Mateo County Prevention of Childhood Obesity Task Force is committed to providing the community with education about healthy eating, active living, and other related topics. The Speakers Bureau offers a resource for local organizations to partner with expert speakers who can deliver a presentation and/or provide training.
