The Major Crimes Unit investigates homicides, robberies and felonious assaults. The unit also assists other jurisdictions upon request with training, suspect identification, cross-jurisdictional coordination, and specialized investigation in major crimes cases. In an effort to better serve the residents of San Mateo County, the Sheriff's Office has a 24-HOUR TOLL FREE Anonymous Witness Line to report illegal or suspicious activity. This service is available to residents in the unincorporated areas of San Mateo County, those areas that fall under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff's Office.
