LIVESCAN / FINGERPRINT PROCESSING.

What is LiveScan?
LiveScan is inkless electronic fingerprinting. The fingerprints are electronically transmitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for completion of a criminal record check.


Is an appointment required for LiveScan service?
YES. Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Appointments resume in the afternoon at 1:00 p.m. with the last at 3:45 p.m.

What is the cost for LiveScan?
The Sheriff's Office fee is $18, plus applicable State and Federal charges. Additional fees may apply depending on the type application being processed.

Payment methods: Cash or company checks only.
Debit (ATM),credit cards, and personal checks are not accepted.

What do I need to bring to my LiveScan appointment?
  • The "REQUEST FOR LIVE SCAN SERVICE" (form BCII8016), which should be already completed by the agency or person who is requesting you to be fingerprinted. The form must be legible (typed or printed clearly).

  • Valid photo ID required. Examples:
    • California Driver's License.
    • California ID card.
    • US Military ID.
    • Passport.
    * Minors not possessing a driver's license can use a student body card as a form of ID.
