Master Plans

Each Park should have an updated Master Plan that is revised every 20 years. Master Planning is an important method to evaluate parks and their futures, to involve the public in the decision making process and identify projects for future funding. Examples of Master Plans currently underway include: San Bruno Mountain, Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, Coyote Point, anticipated Master Planning efforts include Sanchez Adobe, and Huddart/Wunderlich Parks. Other Planning Efforts

County Parks is actively involved with planning improvements in various County Parks. Current efforts underway include development of a Coastal Access Improvement Plan, Recreational Needs Assessment in the Unincorporated Mid-Coast, Phase-1 - Vegetation Management Plan. Future efforts will include development of a Conceptual Plan for Edgewood Park Interpretive Center, Road and Sediment Assessment of Pescadero/Memorial/Sam McDonald Park complex, Memorial Park Water Study, and Coyote Point Recreation Area Bay Trail Conceptual Plan. California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Review
Staff administers the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for park sponsored projects and oversees application of wetland permits. Back to top
San Bruno Mountain Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP)
Staff administers the San Bruno Mountain HCP by reporting to the HCP Trustees (made up of the County Manager, and City Managers of Brisbane, Daly City and South San Francisco), providing oversight of the Habitat Manager, and interacting with the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Back to top
Endangered Species and Watershed Protection Program
Staff actively participates in the San Mateo County Stormwater Pollution Prevention Program (STOPPP) to protect and improve water quality, and Fishery Network of Central California Coastal Counties (FISHNET 4C) effort to protect and restore Coho salmon and Stealhead trout habitat. Staff actively participates in the development and implementation of the County's Endangered Species and Watershed Protection Program to address development standards, road maintenance, and integrated pest management. County Parks Planning operates under the County Public Works Watershed Protection Maintenance Standards.  Back to top
